Kinematic viscosity analysis according to GOST 33 at the RENA laboratory ensures the full legitimacy of your technical conclusions and quality certificates. This test is a bridge between modern lubricants and the requirements of classic technical documentation, allowing consumers to smoothly pass inspections by Quality Control Departments. The test method according to GOST 33 is based on classical fluid physics. The lab technician uses calibrated glass capillary viscometers of the VPZh type (Pinkevich viscometer). The viscometer with the test sample is immersed in a precision liquid thermostatic bath, which maintains a strictly set temperature (e.g., 40 °C, 50 °C, or 100 °C) using an electronic controller. After 15-30 minutes of thermal stabilization, the operator uses a rubber bulb to draw the fluid level into the measuring reservoir above the upper mark. Then, the fluid flows freely downward under gravity through a narrow calibrated capillary. Using a high-precision stopwatch, the time (in seconds) it takes for the fluid meniscus to pass the distance between the upper and lower marks of the reservoir is measured. To ensure reliability, several repeat measurements are taken in a row, after which the average flow time is multiplied by the individual capillary constant (viscometer constant). The resulting value is the kinematic viscosity in centistokes (cSt).
