Elemental Analysis

Description

The «blood test» for your machinery. Quantitative determination of wear metals, contaminants, and additive packages in oil for precise engine condition diagnostics without disassembly.

Don't wait until the engine or turbine seizes. Elemental analysis from the RENA laboratory allows you to look inside a working mechanism without stopping or disassembling it. This method detects metal degradation processes at a microscopic level (when wear particles are smaller than 10 microns and bypass filters). We will tell you exactly whether the piston rings are currently wearing out, the crankshaft bearings are crumbling, or if dust is simply entering the system through a leaky air filter. This is the most powerful tool for predictive maintenance. The analysis is performed on the state-of-the-art ElvaX S Lab X-ray fluorescence spectrometer. The EDXRF method (ASTM D7751) is based on the physics of X-ray emission. A sample of used oil is placed in a cup and irradiated with a primary X-ray beam. Atoms of various chemical elements present in the oil (both as dissolved additives and as metallic suspension) are excited and begin to emit secondary X-rays. Every chemical element in the periodic table has its unique, distinct wavelength for this emission. The instrument's sensitive detector captures this spectrum, separates it by energies, and counts the number of pulses for each element. Thanks to powerful software, within minutes the laboratory receives a precise printout of the concentration of additive elements (zinc, phosphorus, calcium, molybdenum), wear metals (iron, copper, aluminum, chromium, lead), and contaminants (silicon, sodium) in parts per million (ppm).
